Managing Competitors

Managing your competitors is crucial for understanding your position in the market and improving your SEO strategy. This guide will walk you through the process of managing your competitors effectively using our system.

Adding Competitors

  1. Navigate to the Competitor Management Page
    • Go to the Competitors tab.
  2. Select Your Search Group
    • From the "Search Group" dropdown, select the group of keywords you want to analyse.
  3. Choose the Search Engine
    • After selecting a Search Group, choose the search engine from the dropdown menu.
  4. Select Competitors
    • You'll see a list of potential competitors based on your selected Search Group and search engine.
    • The list shows competitor domains along with the number of keywords they rank for.
    • Select up to 20 competitors from this list.
    • Use the ">" button to move selected competitors to your chosen list.
  5. Review and Submit
    • Review your selected competitors in the right-hand list.
    • If needed, you can remove competitors using the "<" button.
    • Once satisfied, click the "Submit" button to save your selections.

Editing Competitor Lists

  1. Locate Existing Records
    • Scroll down to the table showing your existing competitor records.
  2. Edit a Record
    • Find the record you want to modify and click the edit icon (pencil).
    • This will populate the form above with the existing data.
    • Make your changes by adding or removing competitors.
    • Click "Submit" to save your changes.

Deleting Competitor Records

  1. Find the Record
    • In the table of existing records, locate the one you wish to delete.
  2. Delete the Record
    • Click the delete icon (trash can) next to the record.
    • Confirm the deletion when prompted.

Best Practices

  1. Regular Updates: Review and update your competitor lists periodically to stay current with market changes.
  2. Diverse Selection: Choose a mix of direct competitors and industry leaders for a comprehensive view.
  3. Keyword Relevance: Pay attention to the keyword count when selecting competitors to focus on the most relevant ones.
  4. Search Engine Specific: Remember that competitor performance can vary across different search engines, so manage them separately.

Troubleshooting

  • No Competitors Showing: Ensure you've selected both a Search Group and a search engine.
  • Can't Add More Competitors: Remember, there's a limit of 20 competitors per record.
  • Changes Not Saving: Make sure to click the "Submit" button after making any changes.
