Competitor Opportunities
These are keywords where competitors rank well but your site doesn't. Specifically, they're keywords where your domain ranks beyond position 10 while other websites hold stronger positions.
This feature identifies your blind spots. You'll discover valuable search terms you're missing while others capture traffic.

Why opportunities matter
Every keyword in this list represents potential traffic you're leaving on the table. Competitors already proved these terms convert and attract searchers. By targeting these gaps, you'll expand your reach into proven search demand. You're not guessing at new keywords—you're claiming territory competitors already validated.
Access the competitor keywords opportunities table
Navigate to your Keywords dashboard. Click the Competitor Opportunities tab. The table loads automatically when you open the tab. You'll see a list of keywords where you're underperforming.
Read the table columns
Each row represents one keyword opportunity. Here's what each column tells you:
Keyword — The search term where you rank poorly.
Volume — Monthly search volume. Higher numbers mean more potential traffic.
Search Engine — Shows whether this opportunity exists on Google, Bing, or Yahoo.
Best Rank — Your current position for this keyword. All values exceed position 10, meaning you're on page two or worse.
Sort by potential impact
The table automatically sorts by search volume. Keywords at the top offer the most traffic potential. This prioritisation helps you focus effort where it matters most. Tackle high-volume opportunities first for maximum return.
Filter by search group
Use your search group dropdown to narrow the view. Select a specific domain set to see opportunities relevant to that project, campaign or search configuration.
Navigate through results
The table shows 10 opportunities per page. Use pagination controls at the bottom to browse additional results. You'll see "Showing X to Y of Z entries" below the table. This tells you how many opportunities exist in total.
Identify patterns
High-volume gaps
Keywords with substantial search volume deserve immediate attention. These represent significant traffic you're missing. Check whether you have existing content on these topics. If yes, optimise it. If no, create new content.
Search engine variations
Some opportunities appear on specific search engines. You might rank well on Google but poorly on Bing for the same term. This reveals platform-specific weaknesses. Different search engines value different signals.
Topic clusters
Multiple related keywords often appear together. When you see patterns, you've identified a topic area where competitors dominate. Create comprehensive content that addresses the entire cluster. This builds topical authority faster than targeting individual terms.
Take action on opportunities
Content audit
For each opportunity, check whether you have existing content targeting that keyword. Search your site or review your content inventory. If content exists, it needs improvement. If it doesn't exist, you've found a content gap.
Competitive research
Look at who ranks well for these terms. Study their content approach, depth, and structure. You don't need to copy them, but understand what Google rewards for these queries.
Create or optimise
Build new content for keywords you haven't addressed. Enhance existing content that underperforms. Focus on matching or exceeding the quality of top-ranking pages. Add depth, clarity, and value.
Track progress
After optimising, monitor these keywords in your main rankings view. Watch positions improve as your changes take effect. Some opportunities convert quickly. Others need time and additional signals like backlinks.
Understand your position
Every keyword in this table shows you ranking beyond position 10. That's page two or worse on search results. Most clicks happen on page one. Positions 11-20 receive minimal traffic. This table highlights where you need dramatic improvement, not minor tweaks.
Volume indicates opportunity size
Search volume tells you how many people search this term monthly. Zero or low volume means limited traffic potential. High volume means significant traffic awaits if you improve your position. Weigh volume against competition difficulty when prioritising.
Refresh your opportunities
The table updates when you run new keyword checks. As your rankings improve, keywords drop off this list—they're no longer opportunities. New opportunities appear as you add keywords to track or as competitor rankings shift.
When no opportunities appear
An empty table means one of two things:
You rank well across all tracked keywords. Congratulations—you've closed the gaps.
Your keyword set is limited. Add more keywords to track and uncover additional opportunities.
Consider whether you're tracking enough keywords to reveal your full competitive landscape.
