AI Visibility Key Items Tracker
Key Item Tracker shows which product features and attributes AI platforms mention when recommending your brand. It reveals the reasons AI gives for including your brand in responses—helping identify which selling points resonate with each platform.
Quick start
1. Select 30 Days and the target Project
2. Review the heatmap to identify consistently mentioned keywords
3. Compare coverage across dates to spot trends
4. Click the settings icon (⚙) to filter by specific brands
Understanding the display
Key Item Tracker measures keyword coverage: the percentage of AI responses that mention each tracked keyword when recommending your brand. Higher coverage means AI platforms consistently cite that feature as a reason for recommendation.
How coverage is calculated
Coverage percentage = AI responses mentioning keyword ÷ Total AI responses × 100
Keywords are matched against the reasoning AI platforms provide when mentioning your brand. If an AI response says "We recommend Brand X for its excellent customer support", the keyword "customer support" would be counted if tracked.
Heatmap view (7+ days)

When the date range spans 7 days or more, the chart displays as a heatmap showing keyword coverage over time:
| Element | Description |
| X-axis | Dates across the selected period |
| Y-axis | Top 5 keywords by total coverage |
| Cell colour | Coverage intensity—darker pink means higher percentage |
| Hover tooltip | Exact percentage and date for each cell |
The heatmap reveals patterns: consistent dark cells indicate reliable keyword coverage; inconsistent colouring suggests variable AI behaviour.
Platform breakdown view (Yesterday)

When "Yesterday" is selected, the chart displays as a stacked horizontal bar chart showing keyword coverage by AI platform:
| Element | Description |
| Y-axis | Top 15 keywords by coverage |
| X-axis | Coverage percentage |
| Coloured segments | Each colour represents an AI platform (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity) |
| Segment width | Wider segment = higher coverage on that platform |
The platform breakdown reveals which AI platforms emphasise which features. A keyword with strong ChatGPT coverage but weak Claude coverage indicates platform-specific content opportunities.
What should I do next?
Keyword coverage patterns guide content strategy:
| Pattern | Action |
| High coverage, all platforms | This feature resonates. Reinforce it in content. |
| High coverage, one platform only | Expand this messaging to content that other platforms index. |
| Low coverage, important feature | AI platforms aren't picking up this attribute. Strengthen content signals. |
| Declining coverage over time | Competitors may be emphasising this feature more. Review their content. |
| Rising coverage over time | Recent content changes are working. Continue the approach. |
| Keyword not appearing | Verify the feature is mentioned clearly in indexed content. |
Using the filters
Date range
The date range determines both the data period and the chart display mode:
| Option | Display mode | Best for |
| Yesterday | Platform bar chart | Platform-specific keyword analysis |
| 7 Days | Heatmap | Recent keyword trends |
| 30 Days | Heatmap | Trend analysis (default) |
| 90 Days | Heatmap | Quarterly keyword patterns |
| 180 Days | Heatmap | Long-term keyword trends |
Platform
Filter to a specific AI platform to see which keywords that platform emphasises. Useful for understanding platform-specific content strategies.
Phase filter
Focus on a single customer journey phase. Keywords mentioned at the Decision phase directly influence purchase consideration. Keywords at Awareness build brand recognition.
Chart settings
Click the settings icon (⚙) to open the Chart Settings modal.
Group your brands
When enabled (default), keyword coverage is measured across all your configured brands combined. This shows which features AI platforms associate with your brand portfolio overall.
When disabled, select specific brands to analyse. This helps compare which features AI platforms associate with different product lines or sub-brands.
Brand selection
When grouping is disabled, select up to 12 brands to include in the analysis. Only AI responses that mention selected brands are counted.
Session only: Brand selections reset when you leave the page.
Interactive features

• Click legend items (platform view) to show or hide specific platforms
• Export via the menu icon (⋮) to download as PNG, JPEG, or SVG
Troubleshooting
No keyword mentions found
Keywords must be configured and must appear in AI reasoning to be tracked.
• Verify keywords are configured in the project's feature tracking
• Expand the date range to capture more data
• Check that AI monitoring is active for this project
• Select "All" for platform and phase filters
Expected keywords not appearing
The chart displays the top 15 keywords (platform view) or top 5 (heatmap) by coverage. Low-coverage keywords may not appear.
• Keywords with zero coverage are excluded
• The keyword may not match how AI platforms phrase it
• Content may not clearly associate this feature with your brand
Chart shows bars instead of heatmap
The chart has two display modes based on date range:
• Yesterday: Stacked bar chart showing platform breakdown
• 7+ days: Heatmap showing coverage over time
This is expected behaviour. Select 7 Days or longer to see the heatmap.
FAQ
What are "key items" or keywords?
Keywords are product features, attributes, or selling points configured for tracking. Examples: "24/7 support", "free shipping", "enterprise security". They represent reasons AI platforms might recommend your brand.
How is coverage different from visibility?
Visibility measures how often your brand is mentioned overall. Coverage measures how often a specific keyword appears in responses that mention your brand. High visibility with low keyword coverage means AI mentions your brand but doesn't cite specific features.
How often does data update?
Data updates daily. Exact timing depends on account configuration.
Why do different platforms show different keyword coverage?
Each AI platform has different training data and content sources. ChatGPT may emphasise certain features while Claude emphasises others. This reveals opportunities to strengthen content that underperforming platforms index.
How do I add keywords to track?
Keywords are configured in the project's buyer configuration features. Contact your account administrator to add or modify tracked keywords.
Why does the heatmap only show 5 keywords?
The heatmap displays the top 5 keywords by total coverage for readability. The platform breakdown view (Yesterday) shows up to 15 keywords. To analyse specific keywords, use the phase or platform filters to adjust which keywords appear in the top results.
