AI Platform Segment Analysis
AI-powered strategic analysis that examines visibility patterns across conversations, identifies systemic issues, and delivers actionable recommendations to improve brand presence in AI responses.
Quick start
1. Navigate to AI Visibility and select a project
2. Set filters: date range, platform, phase, and configuration
3. Click Analyse with AI
4. Review Visibility Initiatives and expand Detailed Analysis
5. Add priority actions to Kanban for tracking
Analysis modes
Segment Insight operates in two modes depending on configuration selection:
Single configuration analysis
Analyses one buyer persona configuration in depth. Select a specific configuration from the dropdown to examine visibility patterns, platform performance, and competitive positioning for that persona.
Cross-persona strategic analysis
Select "All Configurations" to analyse every persona sequentially, then synthesise cross-persona insights. This mode identifies universal patterns, JTBD themes, visibility locks, and strategic priorities that span multiple buyer types.
Dashboard Navigation and Filters
Master Filter Panel

| Filter | Purpose |
| Date Range | Yesterday, 7 Days, 30 Days (default), 90 Days, or 180 Days |
| Platform | All Platforms, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity (with web variants) |
| Phase | All Phases, Awareness, Consideration, or Decision |
| Configuration | Specific persona or All Configurations for cross-persona analysis |
Understanding single configuration results
Visibility Initiatives
Actionable recommendations based on the analysis. Each initiative includes the problem identified, a narrative recommendation for addressing it, and a rationale explaining the expected impact. Initiatives are prioritised as Immediate, Near Term, or Can Wait.
Platform Gaps
Platforms showing significantly worse visibility than the segment average. Gap types indicate severity:
| Gap Type | Meaning |
| Blind Spot | Near-zero visibility (0-1%) on this platform |
| Weak | Below 10% visibility when segment average is higher |
| Underperforming | Visibility 50% or more below segment average |
Citation Ownership
Analyses where AI platforms source information about the brand. High third-party citation percentages indicate the brand narrative is being defined by external sources such as review sites, competitors, or aggregators rather than the brand's own content.
Test Design Assessment
Evaluates whether configured questions generate brand recommendations or route to educational content. Questions that consistently fail to produce brand mentions may need revision. Phase coverage assessment shows distribution across Awareness, Consideration, and Decision stages.
Systemic Issues
Recurring problems appearing across multiple conversations. Each issue includes evidence, affected conversation count, and scope (platforms, phases affected).
Competitive Insight
Identifies the primary competitor threat based on frequency and positioning, explains their advantage, and suggests counter-narrative approaches.
Understanding cross-persona results
Cross-persona analysis includes all single-configuration sections plus additional strategic insights:
Visibility Locks
Conditions that control when the brand appears in AI responses:
| Lock Type | Description |
| Geo-lock | Brand appears only when geography is specified |
| Category-lock | Brand appears only within specific product framing |
| Competitor-lock | Brand appears only when competitors are mentioned |
| Stage-lock | Brand appears only in certain buyer journey phases |
Jobs-To-Be-Done Patterns
Underlying goals buyers are trying to accomplish, identified across personas. Each JTBD is classified as Core (maps to primary product category), Adjacency (routes to different categories), or Mixed.
Adjacency Risks
Query themes likely to route to other product categories or competitors. These represent traffic leakage rather than core brand gaps.
Universal Issues
Problems affecting multiple personas, with severity levels (Critical, High, Medium) and quantified evidence showing impact breadth.
Positioning Recommendation
A unified narrative strategy designed to work across all personas. Includes rationale, implementation guidance, and geographic proof points where relevant.
What should I do next?
| Finding | Implication | Action |
| Platform blind spot | Zero visibility on a major AI platform | Investigate platform-specific indexing and content requirements |
| High third-party citations | Brand narrative controlled by external sources | Create authoritative first-party content addressing buyer questions |
| Poor routing quality | Questions generating education not recommendations | Revise question wording to explicitly request vendor recommendations |
| Geo-lock detected | Brand only appears with geographic context | Strengthen non-geographic differentiators in content |
| JTBD classified as adjacency | Queries routing to other categories | Evaluate whether to compete in adjacent category or refocus |
| Low win rate across personas | Competitors consistently preferred | Analyse competitor content and strengthen counter-narratives |
Adding initiatives to Kanban
Each Visibility Initiative and Priority Action includes an Add to Kanban button. Clicking this opens a project selector. Once confirmed, the recommendation creates a task with:
• Title from the initiative
• Description including the full context and rationale
• Priority level mapped from the analysis
• Linked issue references where applicable
Discussing results with Tia
After analysis completes, a chat interface appears allowing follow-up questions about the findings. Tia has full context of the analysis and can explain specific recommendations, clarify terminology, or help prioritise actions.
Troubleshooting
Analysis timeout
Large data volumes can cause timeouts. Reduce scope by selecting a shorter date range (7 Days), choosing a specific configuration instead of All, or filtering to a single platform.
Insufficient data
Analysis requires at least 3 conversations with run data. Cross-persona analysis requires at least 2 configurations. Expand the date range or verify that AI visibility monitoring is active for the selected configuration.
No platform gaps found
When all platforms perform similarly (within 20% of each other), no gaps are reported. This indicates consistent visibility across platforms rather than a data issue.
Processing stalled
The system automatically retries stalled jobs up to twice. If the analysis shows "Processing appears to have stalled", wait for automatic retry or click Analyse with AI again.
FAQ
How long does analysis take?
Single configuration analysis typically completes in a minute or two. Cross-persona analysis processes each configuration sequentially, adding a minute per configuration.
What data does the analysis examine?
The analysis reviews AI response data including brand mentions, competitor mentions, citation sources, sentiment, positioning rank, and response content across all conversations matching the selected filters.
Why do platform gaps show 0% visibility?
A 0% visibility blind spot means the brand was never mentioned in responses from that platform during the selected period. This often indicates platform-specific indexing issues requiring separate investigation.
What does "third-party citation dominance" mean?
When more than 50% of citations mentioning the brand come from external sources (review sites, competitor pages, aggregators), AI platforms are learning about the brand from content the brand doesn't control.
How are priorities determined?
Immediate priorities involve large gaps on high-volume keywords or critical visibility issues. Near-term priorities address moderate gaps or unstable rankings. Can-wait items represent minor improvements.
Can I re-run analysis with different filters?
Yes. Adjust filters and click Analyse with AI again. Each analysis is independent and reflects the current filter selection.
