Average Ratings by Source
The Average Ratings by Source Chart helps you track and compare review ratings across different review platforms over time. This visualization allows you to identify which review sources are giving you the highest and lowest ratings, helping you understand where your reputation is strongest and where it needs improvement.
Key Features
The chart displays average ratings as a stacked column graph, with each column representing a date and each colored segment showing the contribution from a different review source. Each review source has its own color, making it easy to visually identify patterns across platforms.
The chart automatically normalizes similar sources (for example, all Google, Trustpilot, TripAdvisor or Hotelmix reviews are grouped together for cleaner reporting), and also calculates an "All Sources" average.
Accessing the Chart
You can find this chart on your dashboard when you navigate to the review insights page of your account.
Using the Filters
The chart includes several filter options to help you customize the data view:
- Project Filter: Select a specific project or view data across all projects with the "All Projects" option.
- Source Filter: Filter by review sources or select "All Sources" to see combined data.
- Business Filter: Choose a specific business to focus on or select "All Businesses" to compare across your portfolio.
- Date Range Filter: Select the time period you want to analyze (default is 30 days).
Any time you change a filter selection, the chart will automatically update to reflect your choices.
Reading the Chart
The chart shows:
- Dates along the bottom axis (x-axis)
- Star ratings (0-5) on the vertical axis (y-axis)
- Stacked colored columns showing the contribution from each source
When you hover over any segment in a column, a tooltip will appear showing:
- The source name
- The exact rating value (to two decimal places)
- The percentage contribution to the total for that date
Understanding the Data
The chart helps you identify several important patterns:
- Source performance: Compare which review platforms consistently give you higher or lower ratings.
- Overall trends: See if your average ratings are improving or declining over time across all sources.
- Source consistency: Identify if there are significant differences between how customers rate you on different platforms.
- Seasonal patterns: Detect if ratings on certain platforms show seasonal or periodic fluctuations.
Tips for Getting the Most Value
- Focus on key sources: Identify which review sources matter most to your business and monitor them closely.
- Compare sources against the "All Sources" average: This helps you understand how each platform compares to your overall review performance.
- Track specific improvement initiatives: If you've launched a campaign to improve ratings on a specific platform, use this chart to monitor its effectiveness.
- Review source-specific strategy: If you notice consistently lower ratings on certain platforms, develop targeted strategies to improve customer experience for users of those platforms.
- Monitor source integration: If you start collecting reviews from a new source, watch how its ratings compare to your existing sources.

If you see "No data available" displayed:
- Check if you have reviews collected for the selected time period
