Review Rating Distribution

The Review Rating Distribution Chart provides a visual breakdown of your review ratings across different star levels. This chart helps you understand how your customer reviews are distributed across the 1-5 star rating scale, giving you insights into overall customer satisfaction and areas for improvement.

Key Features

The chart displays the percentage of reviews for each star rating (1-5 stars) in an easy-to-read column format. Each column represents a star rating level, and the height corresponds to the percentage of total reviews that received that rating. The chart also tracks the actual count of reviews at each star level.

Accessing the Chart

You can find this chart on your dashboard when you navigate to the review insights page of your account.

Using the Filters

The chart includes several filter options to help you customize the data view:

  1. Project Filter: Select a specific project or view data across all projects with the "All Projects" option.
  2. Source Filter: Filter by review sources (like Trustpilot, Google, etc.) or select "All Sources" to see combined data.
  3. Business Filter: Choose a specific business to focus on or select "All Titles" to analyze reviews across your entire portfolio.
  4. Date Range Filter: Select the time period you want to analyze (default is 30 days).

Reading the Chart

The chart shows:

  • Star ratings (1-5 stars) along the bottom axis (x-axis)
  • Percentage of reviews on the vertical axis (y-axis)
  • Pink columns representing the percentage of reviews at each star level

When you hover over any column, a tooltip will appear showing:

  • The exact percentage value for that star rating
  • The actual count of reviews at that star level

Understanding the Data

The distribution of star ratings gives you valuable insights into customer perception:

  • High percentage of 5-star ratings: Shows strong customer satisfaction
  • Even distribution across 3-5 stars: Indicates consistent but mixed experiences
  • High percentage of 1-2 star ratings: Suggests potential issues that need addressing
  • Bimodal distribution (peaks at 1 and 5 stars): May indicate polarized customer experiences

Tips for Getting the Most Value

  1. Identify patterns: Look for which star ratings appear most frequently to understand your typical customer experience.
  2. Compare across businesses: Use the business filter to see how rating distributions differ across your portfolio.
  3. Monitor changes over time: Adjust the date range filter to see if your distribution improves after implementing customer experience initiatives.
  4. Analyze by source: Different review platforms might show different patterns - use the source filter to identify platform-specific trends.
  5. Set targeted goals: Use the distribution data to set specific goals, such as "reduce 1-star reviews by 10%" or "increase 5-star ratings to 75% of total reviews."

Exporting Data

The chart includes an export option that allows you to download the visualization for use in reports or presentations.

  • Try expanding your date range filter
  • Ensure you have permissions to view the selected project data
  • Verify that review data exists for the business or source you've selected
