Getting Started with Echo
Prerequisites
Before using Echo, you need to have at least one project set up in SERP360. Projects help organize your monitoring activities.
Note: If you haven't created a project yet, please visit the Manage Projects section first to set one up.
Accessing Echo
- Log in to your SERP360 account
- Navigate to the "Manage Echo" section from the configuration menu
- You'll see the Echo configuration panel with two main sections:
- Add New Monitoring Configuration at the top
- Your Current Monitoring Configurations below
Creating a New Monitoring Configuration
Step 1: Select a Project
From the dropdown menu, select the project you want to associate with this monitoring configuration. The project helps organize your mentions and determines where the data will be stored.
Step 2: Enter a Search Term
In the "Search Term" field, enter the exact phrase or keyword you want to monitor online. This could be:
- Your brand name (e.g., "SERP360")
- Product names (e.g., "iPhone 15 Pro")
- Competitors' names (e.g., "Competitor Inc.")
- Industry-specific terms (e.g., "content marketing automation")
Step 3: Set Quality Threshold
Use the slider to set the minimum quality score for mentions to be included in your results. The quality score (from 0-100%) is primarily a noise reduction tool that filters out low-value mentions, helping you focus on what matters.
The quality score indicates how relevant and valuable a mention is:
- 85-100%: High-quality mentions from authoritative sites with relevant context
- 70-84%: Good quality mentions from reputable sources
- 50-69%: Average quality mentions that may still be valuable but might include some noise
- Below 50%: Lower quality mentions that often include spam, irrelevant context, or low-authority sources
Setting a higher threshold (85% or above) is recommended for most users as it dramatically reduces noise and focuses on meaningful mentions. You'll receive fewer total mentions, but those you do get will be much more likely to be relevant and valuable to your brand monitoring efforts.
Step 4: Select Monitoring Schedule
Choose how frequently you want Echo to scan for new mentions:
- Daily: Checks for new mentions every day (recommended for active brands)
- Weekly: Checks once per week (suitable for most businesses)
- Monthly: Checks once per month (for less frequent monitoring needs)
Step 5: Save Your Configuration
Click the "Save" button to create your monitoring configuration. Echo will begin scanning for mentions according to your selected schedule.
Managing Your Monitoring Configurations
Viewing Your Configurations
The table at the bottom of the page displays all your active monitoring configurations, showing:
- Project: The project this configuration is associated with
- Search Term: The keyword being monitored
- Quality Score: The minimum quality threshold for included mentions
- Schedule: How often scanning occurs
- Status: Whether the configuration is currently active
- Actions: Buttons to edit or delete the configuration
Editing a Configuration
To modify an existing monitoring configuration:
- Find the configuration in the table
- Click the edit icon (pencil symbol) in the Actions column
- The configuration details will load into the form at the top of the page
- Make your desired changes
- Click "Update" to save your modifications
Enabling/Disabling a Configuration
Each configuration has a toggle switch in the Status column:
- On (checked): The configuration is active and will scan for mentions according to the schedule
- Off (unchecked): The configuration is paused and won't scan for new mentions
Simply click the toggle to change the status. This is useful when you want to temporarily pause monitoring without deleting the configuration.
Deleting a Configuration
To permanently remove a monitoring configuration:
- Find the configuration in the table
- Click the delete icon (trash symbol) in the Actions column
- Confirm your decision when prompted
- The configuration will be permanently removed
Important: Deleting a configuration removes the settings and any mentions that have already been collected.
Troubleshooting
I'm not seeing any mentions
If you're not seeing results:
- Balance your quality threshold: While a high threshold (85%+) reduces noise, it may filter out too many mentions if set extremely high (95%+). Try adjusting to 85% for a good balance between quality and quantity
- Verify your search term: Make sure it's spelled correctly and is specific enough to be meaningful but not so narrow that it rarely appears
- Wait for the next scan: Results appear after your scheduled scan runs
- Ensure your configuration is enabled: Check the toggle in the Status column
- Consider search term popularity: Very niche or uncommon terms naturally generate fewer mentions
My mentions aren't relevant
If you're getting irrelevant results:
- Use more specific search terms: Add qualifying words or use exact phrases
- Increase your quality threshold: Raise the minimum score to filter out lower-quality mentions
- Review and delete: Remove irrelevant mentions manually from your dashboard
I need to monitor mentions more frequently
If you need more frequent monitoring:
- Set your schedule to "Daily" for the most frequent option
- For real-time or custom frequency monitoring, contact SERP360 support to discuss enterprise options
