Link Management
Internal links connect your pages together. They guide visitors through your site and help search engines understand your content structure. Good internal linking improves both user experience and SEO performance.
The SERP360 Internal Linking Tool gives you complete visibility into your site's link structure. You'll see every internal and external link, discover opportunities you've missed, and get AI-powered suggestions for new connections.
What you can do
• View all inbound and outbound links for any page
• Track both internal and external links separately
• Discover AI-powered link opportunities
• Find optimal anchor text for new links
• Add, edit, and delete links in one place
• Identify duplicate links that need attention
• Sync links directly to your WordPress site
Getting started
The Internal Linking Tool lives at the Link Management page in your SERP360 dashboard. When you first arrive, you'll see filter dropdowns at the top and your link data below.
Navigate to your content
Four filters help you find exactly what you need:
Project
Select which project you want to work with. Each project contains its own clusters, topics, and subtopics. The dropdown shows all projects you have access to.
Cluster
Choose a content cluster within your selected project. Clusters group related topics together around a central theme.
Page
Pick the specific page you want to analyse. This dropdown shows all topics and subtopics inF your chosen cluster.
Search Links
Filter the link tables by URL, anchor text, or page name. This searches across all visible links. The clear button appears when you have an active search.
💡 Tip: Start with the project filter. The cluster and page filters update automatically based on your selection.
The page card
Once you select a page, you'll see a pink header card with key information about your selected content.
What the card shows
• Badge indicating whether it's a Topic or Subtopic
• Page title displayed prominently
• Full URL with a clickable link to view the live page
• Two action buttons for generating links and adding new ones
Link statistics
Below the header, four stat boxes show your link counts at a glance:
• Internal Inbound: Links from other pages on your site pointing to this page
• Internal Outbound: Links from this page to other pages on your site
• External Inbound: Backlinks from other websites pointing to this page
• External Outbound: Links from this page to external websites
Note: These numbers update automatically when you add or remove links.
Understanding the tabs
Three tabs organise your link data. Click any tab to switch views.

Internal Links
This tab shows links between pages on your own site. Internal links are split into two sections:
Inbound section
Lists every page on your site that links to the selected page. For each link, you'll see the source page name and URL, the anchor text used, the link type (Follow, NoFollow, Sponsored, or UGC), sync status, and action options.
Outbound section
Shows all pages this content links to. Same columns apply. This tells you where you're sending visitors from this page.
External Links
This tab tracks links to and from external websites. Same structure as Internal Links, with Inbound and Outbound sections.
External inbound links are your backlinks from other sites. External outbound links are citations or resources you're linking to.
Opportunities
The Opportunities tab is where AI suggestions live. More on this powerful feature shortly.
💡 Tip: The tab badges show link counts. Use these for a quick overview without clicking through.
Working with link tables

Each link table displays five columns of information.
Source/Target Page
The first column shows either the source page (for inbound links) or target page (for outbound links). You'll see the page name and a clickable URL beneath it.
Duplicate badges appear here when multiple links point to or from the same URL. The badge shows a count like ×2 or ×3.
Anchor Text
The clickable text that forms the link. Good anchor text describes what the linked page is about. Generic anchors like 'click here' offer less SEO value.
Type
Shows the link attribute:
• Follow: Standard link that passes PageRank
• NoFollow: Tells search engines not to follow this link
• Sponsored: Marks paid or sponsored content
• UGC: User-generated content links
Broken links display a red 'Broken' badge alongside the type.
Sync
Shows whether this link has been synced to your WordPress site:
• Green dot: Successfully synced
• Amber dot: Pending sync (queued)
• Red dot: Sync failed (with retry option)
• Grey circle: Not synced (no connected site)
Actions
The three-dot menu offers Edit and Delete options. Click anywhere outside to close the menu.
Pagination
Tables with more than 25 links show pagination controls. Navigate between pages using the arrows, or check the 'Showing X-Y of Z' indicator.
Filtering duplicates
When duplicate links exist, a 'Show Duplicates Only' button appears. Click it to filter the table down to just duplicates. Click 'Clear Filter' to show all links again.
Adding a new link
Two ways to add links: manually through the modal, or from AI suggestions.

Manual link entry
1. Click the '+ Add Link' button in the page header
2. The modal opens with the source URL pre-filled
3. Enter the target URL (where you want to link to)
4. Select the link type from the dropdown
5. Type the anchor text you'll use
6. Choose the follow type
7. Click 'Save Link'
Link type options
• Internal Inbound: Another page on your site links to this page
• Internal Outbound: This page links to another page on your site
• External Inbound: An external site links to this page
• External Outbound: This page links to an external site
💡 Tip: For internal links, make sure your anchor text describes the target page. 'Our complete guide to coffee brewing' works better than 'click here'.
Generate links from your page
The 'Scan Content' button scans your live page and imports all existing links into SERP360.
How it works
8. Click 'Scan Content' in the page header
9. The tool checks your credit balance
10. It fetches your page content
11. All links are extracted and categorised
12. Your link tables update with the results
This is useful when you've added links directly in WordPress and want them reflected in SERP360. It's also handy for auditing existing pages.
Note: This feature uses 1 credit per page scan.
Finding link opportunities
The Opportunities tab uses AI to suggest pages you should link to and pages that should link to you.

Running the analysis
13. Switch to the Opportunities tab
14. Click 'Find Opportunities'
15. Wait while the AI analyses your content
16. Results appear in two sections
Outbound opportunities
These are pages you should link to from the current page. The AI scans your content and finds natural places where linking would add value.
Each suggestion shows the target page name, a relevance score (as a percentage match), and a 'Linked' badge if you already link there.
Click any suggestion to expand it. You'll see an explanation of why this link makes sense.
Inbound opportunities
These are pages that should link to your current page. The AI identifies content on your site that mentions topics covered here.
Same format as outbound: page name, relevance score, and expandable explanation.
Understanding relevance scores
The percentage badge shows how strongly the AI recommends this link:
• 90%+ : Highly relevant, strong topical connection
• 70-89%: Good match, clear relationship
• Below 70%: Consider carefully, connection is weaker
💡 Tip: Focus on opportunities above 70% relevance for the best results.
Finding anchor text
Once you identify a link opportunity, the 'Find Anchors' button helps you choose the perfect anchor text.
How it works
17. Click 'Find Anchors' on any opportunity
18. The AI scans the source page content
19. It identifies phrases that would work as anchor text
20. Results appear with context and scores
Understanding the results
Each suggestion shows:
• The anchor text in quotes
• The surrounding context from your page
• A relevance score
The anchor text appears highlighted in yellow within the context snippet. This shows exactly where the link would fit.
Adding a suggested link
Click the + button next to any suggestion. The Add Link modal opens with details pre-filled. Review the information and click 'Save Link'.
After saving, the suggestion shows a green checkmark. The stats update automatically.
Note: Anchor text suggestions use 1-2 credits depending on whether we need to scan the target page.
Editing and deleting links
Editing a link
21. Find the link in any table
22. Click the three-dot menu
23. Select 'Edit'
24. Update the fields you need to change
25. Click 'Update Link'
You can change the target URL, anchor text, link type, and follow type. The source URL stays locked since that's the page containing the link.
Deleting a link
26. Find the link you want to remove
27. Click the three-dot menu
28. Select 'Delete'
29. Confirm when prompted
Deleted links are removed from SERP360. If you have WordPress Sync enabled, the link will be queued for removal from your live site too.
💡 Tip: Before deleting, consider whether a broken link should be fixed rather than removed.
WordPress sync status
If you've connected the SERP360 WordPress plugin, links can sync directly to your live site.
Status indicators
• Green dot: Link synced successfully to WordPress
• Amber dot: Link is queued and waiting to sync
• Red dot: Sync failed (hover for details)
• Grey circle: No WordPress site connected for this domain
Retrying failed syncs
When a sync fails, a retry button appears next to the red indicator. Click it to queue the link for another attempt.
The system uses exponential backoff: it waits longer between each retry to avoid overwhelming your server.
To download the SERP360 plugin, visit the API Key section within the account area.

Note: A separate guide covers WordPress plugin setup and configuration.
Best practices
Build a logical structure
Link related content together. Your coffee brewing guide should link to pages about coffee beans, equipment, and techniques. Random connections confuse both users and search engines.
Use descriptive anchor text
Anchor text should tell readers what to expect. 'Our complete guide to French press brewing' tells users exactly what they'll find. 'Click here' tells them nothing.
Balance your links
Pages shouldn't be orphans with no inbound links. They also shouldn't be dead ends with no outbound links. Aim for a healthy flow of links in both directions.
Check for duplicates
Multiple links to the same page from the same content can look spammy. Use the duplicate filter to identify these and clean them up.
Review regularly
Run 'Scan Content' periodically to catch new links you've added directly in WordPress. Check for broken links that need fixing.
Start with high-relevance opportunities
The AI suggests many possibilities. Focus on the 80%+ matches first. These offer the clearest value to your readers.
Common questions
Why don't I see any links?
Make sure you've selected a project, cluster, and page. Then click 'Scan Content' to scan your content. Links only appear after they're either scanned from your page or added manually.
Why is my sync status grey?
Grey means no WordPress site is connected for this domain. Install and configure the SERP360 WordPress plugin to enable sync.
Why did my link opportunity disappear?
Once you add a link, it moves from Opportunities to the appropriate Links tab. This is expected behaviour.
Can I undo a deleted link?
No. Deletion is permanent. If you need the link back, add it again manually or through the Opportunities workflow.
Why do I see the same page multiple times in opportunities?
This can happen when multiple anchor text options exist. Each represents a different way to link to that page from your content.
