Accessing the Tool

  1. Navigate to the Sitemap Explorer page on your website.
  2. Select a specific sitemap from the list provided.
  3. Look for the "Extract Keywords" button on the page.

Extracting Keywords

  1. Ensure you have selected the sitemap you wish to analyse.
  2. Click the "Extract Keywords" button to start the process.
  3. Wait while the system processes the sitemap data. This may take a few moments, especially for larger sites.
  4. Once complete, you'll see an "Extraction Summary" and a list of extracted keywords.

Comparing Extracted Keywords

  1. After keyword extraction, a "Compare Keywords" button will appear.
  2. Click this button to compare the extracted keywords against your existing database.
  3. The system will process the comparison and update the results.

Interpreting the Results

Extraction Results

  • Total Keywords Extracted: The number of unique keywords identified.
  • Total URLs Processed: The number of pages analysed.
  • Keyword Cards: Individual cards showing each extracted keyword, its URL, and search intent.

Comparison Results

After comparison, keyword cards may be updated with match information:

  • Exact Match: The extracted keyword perfectly matches an existing keyword.
  • Similar Match: The extracted keyword is closely related to an existing keyword.
  • No Match: No similar existing keyword found.

For matches, you'll see:

  • The matched existing keyword
  • The domain associated with the existing keyword
  • The category of the existing keyword

Using the Results

  1. Identify New Opportunities: Look for "No Match" keywords that might be valuable additions to your strategy.
  2. Analyse Competitor Focus: When used on a competitor's site, see which keywords they're targeting that you might be missing.
  3. Understand Search Intent: Use the search intent information to align your content with user needs.

Exporting Data

  1. After extraction and comparison, an "Export CSV" button will be available.
  2. Click this button to download a comprehensive CSV file containing:
    • Extracted keywords
    • URLs
    • Search intent
    • Match type (if comparison was performed)
    • Matched existing keywords (if any)
    • Associated domains and categories
